The Roman Catholic Diocese of Oslo (Latin: Osloënsis) is an exempt diocese located in the city of Oslo in Norway.

History

  • 1070?: Established as Diocese of Oslo
  • 1537: Suppressed
  • August 7, 1868: Restored as Mission “sui iuris” of Norway from the Apostolic Vicariate of Sweden
  • August 17, 1869: Promoted as the Apostolic Prefecture of Norway
  • March 11, 1892: Promoted as the Apostolic Vicariate of Norway
  • June 1, 1913: Renamed as the Apostolic Vicariate of Norway and Spitsbergen
  • December 15, 1925: Renamed as the Apostolic Vicariate of Norway
  • April 10, 1931: Renamed as the Apostolic Vicariate of Oslo
  • June 29, 1953: Promoted as Diocese of Oslo
