Digital Revolutions Film Workshop

Digital Revolutions Film Competition is a film competition organized by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT (http://www.bcs.org) in conjunction with Sheffield Doc/Fest (the biggest documentary film festival in Britain, http://sheffdocfest.com) and Crossover (http://www.crossoverlabs.org). Amateur and professional film makers can create and enter 2-3 minute films about how digital technology impacts peoples lives. The prize for the amateur category is £10,000, the prize for the professional category is £5,000. The amateur category is open to British residents aged 18 or over; the professional category is open British residents 18 or over with a broadcast or theatrical credit, including anyone working in a paid capacity on a film or television project that has been broadcast on UK television or released theatrically in the UK.

The deadline for entries is October 15. Those who enter before 18 September will also be entered into a prize draw for an Apple iPad.

The films that are shortlisted by a judging panel that includes Kevin Macdonald, director of The Last King of Scotland, will be featured at Sheffield Doc/Fest, and their creators will receive a Golden Ticket to the festival along with free travel and accommodation.

Purpose BCS, The Chartered Institute of IT, are running this competition to fulfill their chartered purpose of improving the public’s IT literacy skills as well as helping people to better access, use and manage information to lead richer, more fulfilling lives. The competition to encourage people to look more closely at how information and information technology impacts them.
