Toronto ArgonautsRichard Quincy (Dick) Thornton (born November 1, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois) was a football player in the Canadian Football League for twelve years. Thornton played defensive back and wide receiver for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers[1] and Toronto Argonauts from 1961–1972. He won two Grey Cups with Winnipeg in 1961 and 1962. He also played in the 59th Grey Cup of 1971, but, despite an interception and a return of over 50 yards against Jerry Keeling, Toronto lost to the Calgary Stampeders. Later he played with the Memphis Southmen of the WFL. He was selected originally by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1961 NFL Draft out of Northwestern University, where he starred at quarterback.[2]
