Diane Elson is a Gender and Development social scientist.[1]
Elson is currently a professor of Sociology at the University of Essex. She was previously employed by Manchester University as a lecturer in Economics and later, as chairman in Development Studies.
Publications range from contributions to Marxist theory, issues of development and human rights. A theme in her more recent writing is on gender inequality.[citation needed]
She is the author of the books "Male Bias in the Development Process," "Budgeting for Women's Rights: Monitoring Government Budgets for Compliance with CEDAW (Concepts And Tools)" as well as many other publications and articles.
She has also worked for UNIFEM.
