Biography

Early life

Derrick was born in Kampala, Uganda, to Godfrey and Rosemary Walusimbi, on September 20, 1984. He's the third of ten children, and the second eldest of five boys. Raised up as a humble child, he attended Budo Junior School for his Primary Leaving Education from 1990 to 1996, and Kitante Hill School[1] for Ordinary and Advanced level education from 1997 to 2002. After choosing a path in Information Technology as his calling, he later obtained a Bachelor of Computer Information Systems from California State University, Chico in 2005. Through his information technology career, Derrick has achieved certifications like Microsoft Certified Professional from Microsoft Corporation, and Adobe Certified Professional from Adobe Systems Inc.

Career

March 2006 - present

He is the founder, chairman and CEO of Simplified Standards Group LLC . Simplified Standards is a privately held holding company with various diverse investments in Information and Communication Technology, Finance, Forex and Futures, Commodity Markets, Stocks and Real Estate, both in East Africa and the United States.

November 2006 - August 2009

From November 2006, Derrick was working as the Project Coordinator, Executive Officer[2] and Personal Assistant to the Chairman with the Aya Group, a rapidly emerging East African conglomerate with interests in food processing, transportation and property development. The group is currently developing the five star Kampala Hilton Hotel at Nakasero Hill.

December 2007 - January 2009

Derrick worked as the Information Technology Manager for Pan Afric Impex (U) Ltd, a large processor and exporter of high-grade coffee in the region. The company also has a logistics and transport division of more than 150 trucks. Duties involved establishment and management of an in-house Exchange Mail Server, domain, Intranet and performing client system integration.

Derrick Sebagala is engaged to Sheila Komugisha, (born April 10, 1987), a business professional and entrepreneur with a Bachelor of Office Information Management from Makerere University Business School (2011)[3]. Sheila currently lives in Kololo, Kampala.
