Player

McGrane grew up in England, and was a four-time All-Central (Midlands) Region honoree at Leicester High School. He then played college soccer for the Elmira College Soaring Eagles, where he earned NCAA All-North Region honors, was awarded the Elmira College Booster Club MVP Award and was selected as the school’s Male Athlete of the Year.

After college, he returned to England to play professionally with the Lincoln City F.C. side.

Coach

In 1995, McGrane started coaching at Western Kentucky University, as an assistant coach, helping the Hilltoppers to win their first Sun Belt Conference regular-season championship that year.

After two seasons at Western Kentucky, he signed as the top assistant coach at Coastal Carolina University, where he captured three consecutive Big South Conference regular-season championships, and reached the NCAA Tournament in 2001.

In 2002 McGrane became the head coach of the Niagara Purple Eagles men's soccer side, and led Niagara to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament five seasons, while he was named MAAC Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2006.

In 2011 McGrane made the decision to coach for Niagara University's rival, the Canisius Golden Griffins.[1]
