History
When DPSG opened in 1880, it was one of the first schools outside of Delhi that was governed by the Delhi Public School Society. However, the school soon formed its own society, this time under the aegis of a large corporate group based in the city. Shri Dharamvira was the society's first president, yielding the position to Satish Kaura (Padmashree) in 2005. This society has established four other schools in the city, one of which serves under-privileged children.
Shri Dharamvira laid the foundation stone of the present senior school building on 19 April 1981. In 1985, DPSG became affiliated with the New Delhi branches of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Progressive School Conference (NPSC). In 1997, the original building was rebuilt and is now known as the Junior School Complex.
The principal of the school is the overall administrative head and is assisted by the three Head Mistresses, who are assisted by groups of coordinators. This hierarchy offers each wing a high degree of autonomy, which is a welcomed feature because of the vast differences in age and need among students.
Campus
The school has city-wide transportation services for its students and teachers. It has a large campus with full facilities. The sports infrastructure includes a basketball court, cricket/football field, badminton courts, and several other facilities. The school also has a 1000+ capacity coliseum and a 150+ capacity open-air amphitheatre for cultural events. It also has two air-conditioned auditoriums meant for literary and other small-scale events. There are campus-wide wireless networks, and the classrooms are smartclass-enabled. The teachers extensively use computer aided techniques of teaching and every teacher has been provided with a laptop from the school. The 15-acre (61,000 m2) campus is divided into three wings: primary (grades nursery-five), secondary (grades six-ten) and senior secondary (grades eleven-twelve). The junior or primary wing has another subdivision—the Early Childhood Education wing (or ECE)—for classes nursery to one.
Sports and traditions
Each wing holds separate events and functions. The annual function of the primary wing—Sikhofestt—has been held annually since 1997. The secondary and senior secondary wings attend an annual "cultural extravaganza" held in either October or November. The school theatre club—Rang Chhaya—is active all year to support these functions. In addition to these school functions, Rang Chhaya has participated in and won several zonal- and national-level events. The literary committee is also active throughout the year, holding its own gamut of literary events. The Inter Public School (IPS) Debate was started in 1990 and now stands as one of the most prestigious school debates in India. The annual sports festival is held during the first week of December, along with the annual prize-distribution evening. The school has also hosted many national level sporting events, due to having the appropriate infrastructure and capacity. In some events the sikhs are beaten up and are said 12.
ACADEMICS DPSG gave one of the best result in year 2011.It produced CBSE All India Topper. DPSG also credit to producing highest number of IITians from Ghaziabad city.
