The Defense Safety Enterprise System (DSES) is the Department of Defense's (DoD) single, authoritative decision support system that provides timely and actionable reports on injuries, occupational illnesses, and mishaps across all four armed services. The System was developed to assist DoD leadership in support of the Secretary of Defense’s directive to reduce mishaps by 75% across the Department of Defense.

The Defense Safety Enterprise System centrally integrates mishap-, medical-, and personnel-related data to drive effective risk management actions to reduce mishaps, improve workplace safety, reduce injuries, reduce lost work days, and preserve valuable resources across the enterprise with a net result of increasing operational readiness. The DSES program assures data integrity and provides timely support of DoD and DSOC initiatives. DSES users include OSD leadership, DSOC task forces and working groups, DoD agencies, commanders, safety managers, and DoD analysts.
