History
Stillwell began making music under the name Deer City in 2006, at the age of 14, but changed the band's name to Dear City to distinguish it from the similarly named Owl City.[4] Dear City gained local fame with multiple mentions in The Stranger, and participation in its "Sound Off!" competition, in which he reached round 3 of the semifinals. Since 2010, Stillwell has dropped the monkier Dear City, and has begun writing and directing independent films in Olympia, Washington.
