Debug (magazine)

De:Bug is a monthly magazine based in Berlin, covering "electronic aspects of life." Following this new definition of culture, the magazine keeps track of electronic music styles such as techno, electro or house, as well as all intersections of daily life with digital technology, it describes the internet as a social space influenced by interface design, web art, and file sharing issues. A second focus is on hardware, the latest computer games and software for musicians and other creative professionals.

Overview

In 1997, De: Bug was founded by Mercedes Bunz, Sascha Kösch, Riley Reinhold and Benjamin Weiss. Today the magazine is based in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg, close to record labels, clubs, Internet companies and fashion labels. The authors of the magazine are music producers, DJs, radio hosts, software designer, graphic designer or blogger, and thus are part of the De: Bug-described culture themselves. Currently, the core editorial team is Anton Waldt, Sascha Kösch, Thaddeus Herrmann, Ji-Hun Kim and Timo Feldhaus.

De:Bug is well recommended for its price winning avant-garde layout, which is characterized by its distinctive fonts. To date, the magazine has received numerous awards for its design, including the Red Dot Award for high design quality, the Award of Excellence of the European Newspaper Design Award and a lead award top spot.

The current circulation is 26,782 copies (as of Q3/2009). The retail price is 3.80 €, other European countries up to 4,90 €. The magazine is an independent publishing company under the management of Klaus Gropper and Sascha Kösch.
