The name Crumplezone would appear again as an unrelated Decepticon in the series. This Crumplezone was an inhabitant of the Speed Planet Velocitron. A local troublemaker, along with his partner Ransack (the brains of the duo), he was pressganged by Megatron in his search for the Cyber Planet Keys. Not particularly intelligent, Crumplezone is nonetheless very powerful and, very crazy and Impulsive, like all the other planet inhabitants, a superfast racer.

His reformatting as Dark Crumplezone improved his already formidable strength and firepower - unfortunately Megatron's upgrade hasn't really improved his intelligence. Because of this, Galvatron simply lets him loose on the battlefield to see how much damage he can do to the enemy before he gets shut down.

Animated series

Crumplezone is a massive Transformer from Planet Velocitron (Speedia in Galaxy Force) who serves as the muscle to back up his partner Ransack. His bulky frame ( the biggest on Velocitron) possesses incredible speed, racing with fearsome swiftness along even the most winding roadways. He and Ransack were minding their business when they were forcibly drafted by Megatron.

The two were quickly dispatched to locate Velocitron's Cyber Planet Key. Eventually uncovering that it was the Planet Cup. The two entered the race, allying with Dirt Boss to win. Despite cheating their way through to the last race the two were beaten by Hot Shot and Override, forcing Megatron to personally intervene.

Ransack and Crumplezone followed Megatron to the Planets Earth, Animatros and Gigantion in his quest for the Cyber Planet Keys. However this nearly proved their undoing when Starscream betrayed Megatron and sealed him, Ransack, Thundercracker and Mudflap in a steel globe. Crumplezone was the only Decepticon not trapped and managed to locate Scourge, who freed Megatron and the others.

Crumplezone subsequently took part in many battles against both the Autobots and Starscream's ancient Decepticons. A battle on Cybertron nearly proved to be fatal, as Crumplezone was overpowered by a horde of Scrapmetals and eaten alive. Megatron then returned as a ghost (after his pocket dimension was destroyed by Vector Prime) and reformatted Crumplezone into Dark Crumplezone. It then seemed in that episode, Dark Crumplezone was insanely courageous and had a "take charge attitude". But he returned to as very courageous, but runs away because his partner tells him to, self in following episodes. He continued to follow Megatron out of gratitude.

When Galvatron (Megatron's new form) needed the Decepticons to distract the Autobots while he used the power of the Cyber Planet Keys to control the Grand Black Hole, he used the power of the keys to turn Dark Crumplezone, Ransack, Thunderblast and Thundercracker into giants. After the fight the Decepticons returned to normal size. After realising that Galvatron had no intentions of helping his minions escape the Black Hole disaster in the first place, Dark Crumplezone and the remaining Decepticons abandoned their allegiance to Galvatron and considered themselves free.

When the Autobots attempted to use a gigantic rocket to move the Jungle Planet back into its orbit, Galvatron attacked damaged the rocket. The Jungle Planet threatened to crash into Cybertron. Surprisingly, Ransack, Crumplezone, Thundercracker and Thunderblast actually helped to move the booster back into position.

After Galvatron's final defeat, Crumplezone and Ransack participated in the "Speedia 500" race on Velocitron to decide the new planet leader after Override had left to join the Space Bridge Project. Losing (he came fourth) to Hot Shot and sick of trying to fit in, he along with Ransack, Thunderblast formed the new Decepticon army, and left Earth to find a new leader, and on the way they forced Thundercracker back to their team. Predictably, the hapless group didn't get far: the credits montage that closed the series showed they had crashed on what appeared to be Mars.
