Dave Wiegand (born 1974) is a top American Scrabble expert who won the National Scrabble Championship in 2005 and 2009.[1]
Wiegand placed second in the same event in 1994 and third in 2000.[2] He also finished eighth (of 102 competitors) in the World Scrabble Championship in 2005.[3] Since his career began in 1993, he has played at least 2,300 tournament games, winning about 67%, and has earned at least $86,000 in prize money.[4]
In the 2009 NSC, Wiegand defeated defending champion and top seed Nigel Richards in the tournament's final two games to earn his second national title.[5]
Wiegand lives in Portland, Oregon and works as a mortgage underwriter.[6][7]
