David Bert Holt (born January 13, 1957, at Fresno, California) is an American former catcher, first baseman and manager in professional baseball. As a player he stood 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 m) tall, weighed 175 pounds (79 kg), batted left-handed and threw right-handed.
Holt graduated from Mount Whitney High School in Visalia, California, and attended the College of the Sequoias and Fresno State University. He was selected in the 20th round of the 1979 June draft by the Boston Red Sox and spent 16 years in the Red Sox farm system as a player, playing coach and minor league manager.[1] He batted .249 in 336 games during his five-season playing career, and compiled a 572-688 (.454) record as a manager during 11 seasons (1984-94) in the Boston system at the Short Season-A, Class A and Double A levels.[2] His 1986 Winter Haven Red Sox won a division title in the Florida State League.
After his departure from the Red Sox in 1994, Holt managed in independent league baseball. Dave is now currently a school administrator and baseball teaching consultant: [3] Bring the professional baseball development model to youth baseball.
