Technical author

In 2001 Manning Press published Dave Cross's first book Data Munging With Perl.

Dave followed this up in 2003 by co-authoring with Andy Wardley and Darren Chamberlain Perl Template Toolkit, published by O'Reilly Associates.

Work in the Perl community

Dave Cross founded London Perl Mongers, the first Perl user group outside North America.

Since then Dave Cross has become a regular speaker at Perl conferences[1][2][3][4][5] and other open source conferences such as UKUUG[6] and FOSDEM.[7]

In 2004 Dave Cross was presented with the O'Reilly White Camel award for his work in the Perl community.[8]

Personal

In addition to his technical writings Dave Cross currently maintains a personal blog on which he covers issues such as politics and religion — in particular, he is a strong atheist.[9]
