Hong Kong Vase (2009)Horse (Equus ferus caballus) Daryakana (14 April 2006 foaled) is a Thoroughbred racehorses trained and bred in Frace. As a 3 year old she was unfefeated with two group races, Prix de Royallieu and Hong kong Vase to her name. With the map set out leading her towards Octobers Prix L'Arc De Triopmhe she ran in the Prix Corrida on her reappearance. She was fully entitled to need that run and so it proved, held uip off the pace in a steadily run race. She scythed through the pack to mount her challenge before being held into 3rd place. She was then beaten again behind the same rival in Plumania. Connections rated her so highly, her next objective was to raid the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth stakes at Ascot. She had a tough task against the boys and whilst hot favourite Workforce flopped, it was the now retired Harbinger who stormed away with success. But she once again was closely matched with Youmzain and it was a creditable effort. Last seen back at her favoured Longchamp in the Qatar sponsored Prix Foy. She was beaten once again, this time though it would seem she was only having a prep race for the forthcoming 'Arc'. The race won by John Gosden's Duncan, she was held up right out the back, when the pace quickened Lemaire was content to sit tight. A couple of mere 'slaps' with the whip and she was given a very tender ride beaten a couple of lengths back in 5th.
