Darril Fosty

Darril Fosty is a Canadian born sports writer and award winning author and documentarian.[1] Co-author of the book Black Ice: The Lost History of the Coloured Hockey League of the Maritimes, 1895–1925,[2] he is considered a leading expert on the Coloured Hockey League and is the co-founder of the Society of North American Hockey Historians and Researchers[3] along with Boxscore World Sportswire.[4] In addition, he has also co-authored the books Splendid Is The Sun: The 5,000 Year History of Hockey [2004], Footie's Black Book: A Guide To International Association Football - 2010 World Cup Edition [2010], and the Apocalypse 2012 Cookbook: An End of the World Cooking and Survival Guide for the Man, Woman and Family On The Run [2011]. In April 2011, he received a Teaching Award from George Washington University.[5].

In 2007, his efforts to uncover the history of early African-Canadian hockey was featured in the ESPN documentary Frozen Out.[citation needed]
