Western Michigan UniversityReligion Baptist Darnell Earley is the current city manager of Saginaw, Michigan. He served as interim mayor of Flint, Michigan after the recall of Woodrow Stanley.[3] He is also an ordained Baptist deacon.[2]
Early life
He earned a bachelor's degree from Grand Valley State University and a master's degree in public administration from Western Michigan University. After college, Earley professionally worked at the Urban League of Greater Muskegon as the director of community and economic development in 1978.[2]
Political
Later, he worked at Muskegon County as an assistant to the county administrator and equal employment opportunity officer. In 1985, Earley was appointed township manager in Saginaw County's Buena Vista Charter Township. Then speaker of the House Lewis Dodak selected Earley as director of research and public policy with the Michigan House of Representatives. Moving to Ingham County's government, he served as budget director and deputy controller from 1993 to 2001.[2] Coming to Flint, Michigan as City Administrator in 2001, he became Temporary Mayor after the recall of the Mayor Stanley on March 5, 2002 until August 6, 2002. Part of his term was under an Emergency Financial Manager, Edward J. Kurtz. He continue as City Administrator under James W. Rutherford.
