- Darlings of Rhythm
-
The Darlings of Rhythm was an all-female swing band from the 1940s. Toby Butler, who had also played with The International Sweethearts of Rhythm, was once arrested under the auspices of Jim Crow because she was white, playing with a black band. [1] The Darlings of Rhythm were organized in Harlem in 1943 by Lorraine Brown, a saxophonist.[2]
