Dante O. Tiñga (born May 11, 1939) is a Filipino politician and jurist. He served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines from 2003 to 2009.

Profile

From 1987 to 1998, Tiñga served as a three-term congressman representing the Taguig-Pateros district. From 1989 to 1993, he was the Dean of the University of the East College of Law, from where he earned his law degree in 1960. From 2001 until his appointment to the Supreme Court, he was the Dean of the College of Law of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Justice Tiñga also maintained an extensive private practice prior to his elevation to the Court.

Tiñga earned his Master of Laws degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1970.

He is the father of current Taguig City Representative and Former City Mayor Sigfrido R. Tiñga.

Tinga run for the mayoralty race in Taguig in 2010 Elections but lost to Lani Cayetano. However, there is a case filed to the Commission on Elections [(COMELEC)] due to alleged massive election fraud done by Cayetano's camp since Lani Cayetano was the only one who had won from her local party in Taguig.
