Danny Shepherd was a rugby league footballer in the Australian Rugby League (ARL) competition.
A promising front-row forward, Shepherd was struck down by severe sunstroke during an early seaon match against the Gold Coast in 1990. After eleven days near death at Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital, Shepherd went on to make a full recovery, though never playing first grade football again.
