She is a member of the Senate of the Czech Republic for 2nd District of Prague since 2000. On 13 January 2009, it was reported that Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek had chosen her as a replacement of Tomáš Julínek as Minister of Health.[1]
Since 1986 Filipiová is paralyzed from waist down due to unsuccessful spinal cord surgery. She is married and has two daughters.
