Early life
Born to Larry and Isabel Kennedy in Tucson, AZ, 1983, Kennedy's interest in acting began during his childhood when he watched the PBS series Masterpiece Theater, and fell in love with British drama. He also developed a love of opera by watching Live from Lincoln Center also on PBS. After winning a trip to New York City, as Arizona's state high school representative in an annual national Shakespeare competition, Kennedy had the unexpected opportunity to tour The Juilliard School. After being accepted, he became the first student in the school's history to major in both drama and vocal arts.[2]
Career
All My Children
Kennedy's first portrayal of Peter Cortlandt aired on July 11, 2008. Peter "Petey" Cortlandt was born late in life to Opal and Palmer. Because he was a "menopause baby" and because Palmer mistakenly thought he was sterile, he accused Opal of having an affair. When he realized that the baby was really his Palmer was incredibly happy. Opal named the baby for Palmer, whose real name was Peter. Pete returned to Pine Valley and immediately fell head over heels in love with Colby Chandler played by co-star Brianne Moncrief. To prove his love he offered to help her cover up her part in the hit-and-run of Richie Novak; she initially refused but then gave in. Luckily, Colby and the other kids were cleared of the charges. Pete confessed his love many times but Colby would not listen so he teamed up with Adam Chandler and offered to help him ruin Fusion's new perfume, 'Bella', in exchange for Adam's blessing with Colby. Adam agreed; Pete tainted the perfume with his own concoction, but not before he was struck by lightning. When Adam was exposed, he threatened to expose Pete too, but Colby learned of it and stood by her friend. Adam and Pete continue to work together so that Pete may have access to Colby.[3]
Kennedy continues to garner praise for his inspired portrayal of Pete Cortlandt.[4]
Theatre
Prior to landing his role on All My Children, Kennedy played the character of Alfred in Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at the prestigious Center Stage (theater) in Baltimore, Maryland. For his portrayal of Alfred, BroadwayWorld.com notes that " [Kennedy] manages to make his time onstage thoroughly engaging and he connects with the audience in a way that no other actor in it does."[5]
