Daniel 'Dani' Carril Freire (born 28 July 1980 in Vigo, Pontevedra, Galicia) is a Spanish footballer who plays for SD Ponferradina in the Spanish third division, as a right defender.

Football career

Carril was brought up in local side Celta de Vigo's youth ranks, but never received any playing time with its main squads, moving in 2001 to amateur club CD Grove (regional level), and joining fourth level's CD Lugo six years later.

After being instrumental in helping Lugo to a Segunda División B return in 2006, Carril eventually moved to the second division, signing with Hércules CF. In his first season, he featured rarely as the side fell just three points short of a top flight return, being mainly restricted to cup matches.

In mid-July 2009, Carril moved to another side in level two, Levante UD, signing a two-year deal with the Valencian club.^[1] However, only one year later, he changed teams again, signing with UD Las Palmas in the same division.^[2]
