Daniel Paul Amos (born August 13, 1951) is the chairman and chief executive officer of Aflac Incorporated. Amos, son of Aflac co-founder Paul Amos,[1], joined the company as a regional sales director in 1973. He became president of Aflac in 1983, chief operating officer in 1987, chief executive officer in 1990, and chairman in 2001.[1]

Amos is a member of the board of directors of Synovus and is a member of the boards of trustees for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and House of Mercy of Columbus. He is also the former chairman of the University of Georgia Foundation. Amos has his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in risk management.[2]

Compensation

In 2008, Amos earned total compensation of $10.8 million, which included a base salary of $1.3 million, stock and options grants of granted of $9.2 million, and other compensation of just under $200,000.[3] In 2009, Amos earned total compensation of $13.1 million, which included a base salary of $1.3 million, a cash bonus of $4.1 million stock and options grants of $7.45 million, and other compensation of just over $200,000.[3]
