Damo (Somali: Daamo) is a historic Somali settlement in Northeast Somalia 5 km west of Cape Guardafui. About 1 km east of the settlement lie ancient ruins that Neville Chittick equates with the Market of Spices mentioned in the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea 2000 years ago. Unglazed pottery imported from the Roman Empire has also been found in an old quarry near the ruins.[1]
