She is 179 cm (5.87 ft) and plays in the team of her school, TVF Güzel Sanatlar ve Spor Lisesi (Turkish Volleyball Federation Fine Arts and Sport High School) in Ankara. Çakıroğlu is the captain of the Turkey girls' youth national volleyball team, and wears number 1.[1][2]
Damla is the daughter of Melih Çakıroğlu, former coach of the Türk Teekom Basketball Club.[3]
