Damian Keyes (born 05/08/1980 in Swansea, Wales) is the founding director of The Brighton Institute of Modern Music.
Career
As a bass player, Keyes has performed in many cover bands, and has performed in front of Alanis Morissette, Eric Clapton,[1] Bob Dylan, Mike Flowers Pops, Turin Brakes, Matt Willis, Taylor Hawkins from the 'Foo Fighters'[2].
Keyes was hired as a bass guitar teacher at The Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford in 1997.] where he met Bruce Dickinson. In 2001, Keyes and Dickinson left ACM to start their own music school in Brighton with Kevin Nixon and Sarah Clayman called The Brighton Institute of Modern Music.
BIMM are in the Guinness Book of World Records for 'The loudest guitar amp' which they hold in association with Punk band 'Gallows'
In 2006, Keyes teamed up with former Skunk Anansie axe-man Ace on the radio show The Damo and Ace Show on Juice 107.2 in Brighton. The 3 hour nightly show promotes local unsigned bands as well as what's new in the world of rock, indie, metal and alternative music. In 2007.
Damian Keyes has been working in music education for the last 12 years.
