Contents
Product
A direct-to-consumer entertainment service, Dada Entertainment offers music content, including audio and video clips, ringtones, images and mobile games. Its assets include Dada’s mobile club, Dada.net, Upoc (mobile community) and Sony Music Box (BREW application live on Verizon Wireless, Alltel and U.S. Cellular).
Dada.net
Dada Entertainment's online music store (Dada.net) members can download DRM-free music that works on any web or mobile device (PC, MP3 players, cell-phones) as part of a monthly mobile subscription[citation needed].
The music catalog spans all genres[citation needed] and includes full-track songs in a high bit rate (256 kbit/s) MP3 DRM-free format as well as ringtones. The website also contains a social networking platform.
Upoc
Launched in 1999 and distributed by Dada in the U.S. market since 2006, Upoc was the first[citation needed] company to offer mobile chat groups.
Upoc allows users to share text, picture (MMS) and voice messages among groups of people. Members create chat groups for their friends and family and then can send a single message for everyone to receive simultaneously. Upoc also offers a social networking service where members can browse groups (and member profiles) that reflect their interests. Top groups historically include fans of hip-hop and rap.
In October 2007, Upoc released the beta version of a web service called Up2 which allows users to broadcast themselves through micro-post and to receive updates (up to 140 characters) from people whom they are interested in connecting.[citation needed]
Upoc has suffered since being taken over by Dada. Many longtime users have left due to issues with messages being slow or unposted, the inability of group owners to accept join requests (receiving a message instead that they have joined their own group), and group settings being randomly set to "public" without group owners permission, resulting in unwanted people on private groups.[citation needed]
openDada
openDada, a program intended to ease the API process for its partners and affiliates, was launched by Dada in June 2008. The site integrates Dada Entertainment’s content catalog with partner websites, making it easier for these sites to get their partnerships off the ground.
