https://market.android.com/details?id=com.appflight318&hl=enKarim Karamali is a Boston, Massachusetts area radio DJ, personality, and music director known as "DJ Pup Dawg".
Born in Pakistan, DJ Pup Dawg moved to Los Angeles at a very young age where he began his career as a DJ. Early on in his career Pup would DJ at house parties, and was known to bring in his tape deck to DJ from one tape deck to another. At night, he would climb into bed, portable radio hidden under his shirt, and tune into Magic 106. He’d also tune into KDAY, the legendary AM station that helped launch west coast hip-hop. These stations influenced Pup’s style as an aspiring young DJ, but It wasn’t until senior year in high school that Pup really began to pursued mixing.
In 1997 Pup’s dream began. Pup landed a gig at The Sharks Club where one night Eric Cubiche, The Beat 92.3’s Saturday night host, was hanging out. Eric liked the way Pup mixed and how he held the crowd on the dance floor. One week later Eric offered Pup a spot to open up for him at a few clubs around L.A., and about a month later, Pup was interning for the number one radio station in Los Angeles, The Beat 92.3’s.
After two years with The Beat and a year and a half with Hot in Los Angeles, Pup found himself on the east coast at WJMN (FM) in Boston (Jamn 94.5) on The Ramiro & Pebbles Morning Show. At Jamn 94.5 he is not only the morning show mixer, but also an on-air personality, and In 2008, Pup met his ultimate goal in radio when he became Jamn’s Music Director![1]
“From Pakistan, to L.A., to Boston,” DJ Pup Dawg is one of the more powerful DJ’s in hip-hop, and his fans have made it known by making him The Boston Phoenix Best DJ of 2009.[2]
Pup was also recently named Boston’s DJ of the year for the 2011 Nightlife Awards presented by The Nightlife Awards and Dirty Water TV.[3][4]
When it comes to helping out his community Pup is always there to lend a hand. According to Ashley Jannino of Lassell College, the Creeps and Ghouls dance she was in charge of planning for the College would not have been such a huge success without the help of DJ Pup Dawg. "The door count was 400 students; about one quarter of the college campus." Ashley said.[5]
Pup has also been known to lend a helping hand with Boston-area youth. The Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s Summer Soccer Event is just one of the many events Pup has participated in which brings city kids together with other public safety officials for a day of safe, healthy, team-oriented fun.[6]
DJ Pup Dawg has opened up for the very talented Alicia Keys, Akon, and Common (entertainer), just to name a few. Outside of Boston radio, DJ Pup Dawg is syndicated with Super Radio and on Cable TV’s Music Choice Mixtape Channel.[7]
DJ Pup Dawg’s most recent project has been managing “REDD HOTT”, a new artist fresh out of Brooklyn, New York who is now signed under Akon’s label “KONVICT MUSIC”.
