Design Science Research

Design Science Research is becoming firmly established as a key research paradigm in mainstream information systems research.

The importance of design was first brought to light by Herbert Simon's "Sciences of the Artificial" [1]. Since then, an entire body of research embracing goals to design and invent innovative artifacts such as constructs, frameworks, models, methods, processes and systems has emerged. The creation of (IT) artefacts and their evaluation is central to the Design Science Research paradigm. This conference will explore both the design methodology aspects as well as research conducted using Design Science.

The Association for Information Systems provides a comprehensive overview of Design Research in Information Systems, including:

The Conference

The objective of the International Conference on Design Science Research in Information Systems and Technology (DESRIST) is to bring together researchers from different backgrounds ranging from computer science, information systems, and software engineering to social ethnography designers to create a forum for discussing novel solutions to emerging problems.
