Major-General Thomas Victor Anderson DSO CD (July 4, 1881 – 1972) was a Canadian soldier and Chief of the General Staff, the head of the Canadian Army from 21 November1938 until 6 July1940.

Education

Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Thomas Victor Anderson graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario in 1900, student # 433.

ervice

He served as CSM in 1900. He served as a member of the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1905. He served with the 14th Princess of Wales Own Regiment. He was an instructor in civil engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada from 1921-25. He was wounded in 1917. He became commandant of the Canadian Engineers Training Centre in England. He served as CGO at Royal Military College of Canada in 1921. He was Director of Military Training & Staff Duties, National Defence Headquarters from 1925-1929.He was District Officer Commanding 10th Military District from 1929-1933. He was District Officer Commanding 2nd Military District 1933-1935. He served as Quartermaster-General, National Defence Headquarters 1935-1938. He served as Chief General Staff 1938 -1940.

He served as the inspector general of central Canada in 1940 - 1942. [ Preston "Canada's RMC: A History of the Royal Military College" ] He retired in 1943.
