- Cut-Tex PRO
-
Cut-Tex PRO is a cut resistant fabric. As a technical fabric, Cut-Tex PRO is a combination of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fibres and other technical fibres weaved by special high-density knitting machines, resulting in a cut-resistant fabric. Cut-Tex PRO has been developed in order to manufacture light-weight [1] knife, slash or cut resistant clothing whilst allowing flexibility and breathability.

Properties
Cut Resistance
Cut-Tex PRO has been developed to provide cut resistance whilst allowing flexibility and breathability. A combination of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fibres and fiberglass are used for this textile. Depending on operational duties and risks and individual requirements, other fibres such as polyester, nylon and spandex are added. Cut-Tex PRO offers the following protection levels: BS EN ISO 388:2003 Blade Cut Resistance Level 5 (the highest possible, ISO 13997:1999 Blade Cut Resistance Level 5 (the highest possible) and ASTM F-1790 Level 4 (the second highest level).
Tear Resistance
Cut-Tex PRO offers BS EN ISO 388:2003 Tear Resistance Level 4 (The highest possible)
Abrasion Resistance
Cut-Tex PRO offers BS EN ISO 388:2003 Abrasion Resistance Level 4 (The highest possible)
Bite Resistance
Due to the protective properties of the two main fibres used in Cut-Tex PRO bite resistance from human bites is offered, but not from animal bites, such as aggressive dogs. This is primarily due to the force and pressure that can be found in large animals. Offering bite resistance means reducing the risk of infection following a human bite.
Puncture Resistance
Cut-Tex PRO does not offer puncture resistance, as it is a knitted fabric. However Cut-Tex PRO is commonly used for cut resistant gloves, and during the manufacturing process of cut resistant gloves additional materials are used to offer BS EN ISO 388:2003 Puncture Resistance Level 4 - the highest possible.
Applications
There is a wide range of applications for Cut-Tex PRO:
- Cut Resistant Sleeves [2]
- Cut Resistant Clothing for Prisons, Police, Private Security, Immigration, Border Control and Mental Health [3]
- Cut Resistant Gloves for the above sectors
- Cut Resistant Underwear for ice speed skating and ice hockey
- Cut Resistant Clothing for metal pressing, glass handling and other industries
