Welcome to Wikipedia's page for Articles for Creation. If you do not have a Wikipedia user account but have an idea and sources for a new article, you can submit them here. If you have an idea for the title of an article, but no content for the article itself, please see requested articles. • To manually list an article for review through AFC, add {{subst:AFC submission/submit}}. Note that scripts will report hold/decline/accept to the person saving that page.

Reviewing an article

Verify that the submission is not a copyright violation and meets applicable notability guidelines.

If the article looks suitable for Wikipedia, then

1. Create the article by moving it into mainspace and removing the {{AFC submission}} tag, as well as any AFC related comments or content from earlier, declined submissions.
   • Consider adding the new article to categories, and tagging it with appropriate cleanup templates.
   • If the article is a stub, add the {{stub}} template, or the appropriate category-specific stub templates.
   • Add {{WPAFC}} to the talk page of the new article to flag it as part of the AFC WikiProject. Also add any other Wikiproject banners that would apply to the article.
2. Add {{subst:Afc talk|Article Name}} to the talk page user who submitted the article, to inform them that their submission was successful.

If the article does not look suitable for Wikipedia, then

1. Add the D parameter to the AFC template, making sure not to delete the ts or a parameters.
2. Remove any copyright violations, personal attacks, or patent nonsense from the submission.
3. Obvious bad-faith submissions may be tagged for speedy deletion if appropriate.
4. Include a decline reason in the submission template ({{AFC submission|D|reason|existing parameters}}). Write a custom reason with {{AFC submission|D|reason|Your reason here|existing parameters}}, or choose from the list of standard messages as described in the template's documentation page. Remember to not remove the ts, u, or ns parameters, because they are needed for organization even after a submission is declined.

   The following are NOT acceptable reasons for declining a submission

   • The article uses general references to support some or all of the material, except for the four specific types of material for which policies absolutely require the use of inline citations, notably direct quotations and contentious matter (not any or all matter) about living people.
   • You personally don't like the citation style or formatting. The use of <ref> tags is not required in any article. Editors may choose any form of inline citation, not just the most popular one.
   • The article contains no wikilinks to other articles. (Instead, tag it with {{wikify|date=November 2011}}.)
   • The citations contain bare URLs or other formatting problems. (Instead, tag it with {{cleanup-link rot|date=November 2011}} or {{citation style|date=November 2011}}.)

Reviewing a redirect

If the redirect is appropriate for Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:Redirects)

1. Create the redirect as you normally would.
   • Consider adding a redirect template message to the redirect page, when appropriate.
   • Add {{subst:WPAFC/redirect}} to the talk page of the redirect to flag it as part of the AFC WikiProject.
2. Add {{subst:afc redirect}} to the bottom of the section containing the request.
3. Add {{subst:afc a}} to the top of the section, and {{subst:afc b}} to the bottom, below {{subst:afc redirect}}.

If the redirect is not appropriate for Wikipedia

1. Add the reason for declining the redirect to the bottom of the section containing the request, or add {{subst:afc notarget}} if the submitter failed to specify a target for the redirect.
2. Add {{subst:afc r}} to the top of the section, and {{subst:afc b}} to the bottom, below the decline reason.
