Plot
Betty Andrews (Rochelle Hudson), although innocent, is convicted of a theft of department stores and, despite the efforts of his lawyer Mary Ellis (Frieda Inescort) and a young journalist, Jim Brent (Glenn Ford), Betty is sentenced to a year in the Curtiss House of Correction. The Chief Matron correctional Brackett (Esther Dale) is very severe. Betty has the support of the prisoners "The Duchess" Frankie Mason (June Lang) and Nita Lavoro (Iris Meredith). When ten girls are allowed to go home for Thanksgiving day, promising that they have to return "The Duchess" Frankie, is angry about losing their privilege to Betty, and blames it. "The Duchess", to Betty arranges to be kidnapped and can not return to the appointed time
