ConTextos is an international non-profit organization known for working with under resourced schools in El Salvador, to create school libraries and to train teachers and parents to utilize oral tradition, arts, images and written texts to develop cross-curricular literacy and promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It is a Charitable organization that currently works in El Salvador and hopes to expand into Central America. As of Fall 2010, ConTextos has delivered over 5000 books, built 5 libraries, helped 8 schools and hundreds of children, teachers and families.
The Organization, founded by students at Harvard University Graduate School of Education in 2009, was originally named Learning Through Libraries (LTL) and later renamed to its Current title, ConTextos. The organization works in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations such as Scholastic Corporation and governments, ConTextos is able to bring books to schools so that kids become engaged learners and problem solvers [1].
