- Comic mart
-
Comic marts are trade events where several comic book dealers gather together. Typically convening for a single day, these events are sometimes linked with signing sessions by comic creators. In the UK there have been regular Marts since the early 1970s in cities such as Liverpool and London with the experimental first one, then named a minicon, held upstairs in the Eagle pub, Farringdon Road, London, in 1969. It was organised by Fantasy Advertiser creator Frank Dobson, still a comics dealer 40 years later. However, since the rise of internet shopping and websites such as EBay, marts have decreased in number and now only a few occur regularly.
