- Colne Valley regional park
-
The Colne Valley regional park located to the west of Greater London contains a mixture of farmland, woodland and water, fifty miles of river and canal and over forty lakes. As well as providing homes and farms it is also a regionally important place recreation and internationally important for wildlife. Large areas are open to the public or accessible through a network of paths.
It stretches from Staines in the south to Rickmansworth in the north along the alluvial meadows along the River Colne valley. It includes Staines Moor, Staines Reservoirs and King George VI Reservoir.[1] Popular attractions within the regional park include Black Park, Chiltern Open Air Museum and Little Britain, Buckinghamshire.
The reservoirs carry nationally important wintering populations of tufted ducks, pochard, goosander and goldeneye.[1]
