Colleen McGill

Colleen McGill is a frequently published and award winning interior designer from Canada. She is a principal in the architectural and interior design firm called McGill Design Group, based in Toronto. McGill Design Group has earned critical acclaim for a wide variety of high end residential interior design projects and is an international favourite of interior design bloggers from around the world.

Most recently one of her designs was featured on the show HGTV's Top 10 which highlights the top 10 rooms in North America, and her work is regularly featured in Canadian House and Home magazine. In Canadian House and Home's 20th Anniversary issue in December 2006 Colleen McGill was listed in their "IT LIST" of designers whose work had graced their pages most often over the past decade.

In the 2010 Spring edition of HOMEFRONT Magazine Jeffrey Fisher a contributor to the National Post magazine conducted an interview with Colleen titled "Sitting Down with Colleen McGill" [1]

Career

Before starting McGill Design Group in 1996, Colleen worked for JF Brennan the go to design builder for Toronto's elite where she had the opportunity to help design homes for Gerry Schwartz & Heather Reisman, the Bitove's and Newcourt Capital founder Steve Hudson. She has designed primary residences and vacation properties across North America.

Early life

Colleen grew up in the Westmount area of Montreal but was coincidentally born in Kingston, Jamaica while her father John McGill was there helping to start Air Jamaica on behalf of Air Canada where he worked as an Executive Vice President. Colleen McGill attended the private school Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's School in Montreal before first earning a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and then graduating with her Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from Ryerson University in Toronto.

Personal

Colleen dedicates some of her spare time to Project Sunshine a nonprofit organization that provides free educational, recreational, and social programs to children facing medical challenges and their families.
