Coleman Lew & Associates, Inc., founded in 1979, is Charlotte, North Carolina’s oldest retained executive search firm.^{[citation needed]} Coleman Lew was started by Charles E. “Chuck” Lew, who now serves as Chairman. Ken Carrick, who has been with the firm since 1986, was named President in 2011.^[1] Coleman Lew conducts searches for a wide range of public, private, and international companies, academic institutions, non-profit organizations, and government agencies. The firm recruits board members and senior level executives for all functional areas. As a generalist firm, Coleman Lew limits the number of clients in any one industry, which preserves their ability to search without restriction. In addition to search services, Coleman Lew advises its clients as they grow and adapt to new management teams. The company has a fully integrated Leadership Development Services practice that includes assessment, team building, and development tools to help clients optimize leadership and plan for the future.
