The High School offers pupils 5-14 levels A-F, Access three, Standard Grade, Intermediate 1&2, Higher as well as Advanced Higher in some subjects. The school had an inspection by HMIE in spring term 2009 and received positive results.

History
Workers at the local Clydebank shipyards wanted a proper education for their children, so in 1872, the first Clydebank High School was born, in a house with only one qualified teacher. After the rise of population in the area caused the creation of the town of Clydebank, a new school building was needed. And in 1876, the school board opened the first purpose-built Clydebank High School. Only after 12 years did the board decide that the school was too small and decided to build another school on the Kilbowie Road site, so in 1888 a new building was opened, this time with room for many more pupils.
By the middle of the 1930s a new school building was being built at Janetta Street, in the north of Clydebank. During the war the building was hit by a parachute mine but was still usable as a temporary first aid post. The school roll continued to rise in the 1950s and huts had to be assembled in the playgrounds to compensate. To cope with these rising numbers, an extension of the building was completed in 1977.
Recent events
With the decline in the birth rate in the early 2000s it was decided that the nearby Braidfield high school should be closed and merged with Clydebank High, and in August 2006 this became a reality. A new school had to be built to cope with the increase in pupils and the damage that the school faced after 70 years of operation in the same building. In August 2009 a new Clydebank High school was built on the football pitches of the previous school. The new building has a capacity for 1500 pupils, 150 teaching staff and was built by BAM. The school is part of 4 schools being built by BAM in a Public Private Partnership with the local authority.
