Clarisonic, or Pacific Bioscience Laboratories, Inc., is a private company based in Bellevue, Washington that produces the Clarisonic line of skin care products.

Availability
Clarisonic products are available to spa owners, physicians and consumers. The consumer line of products include the Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing System, available in Classic, PLUS and Mia models, and the Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System. Spa owners and physicians carry the consumer line along with the Clarisonic PRO model. Clarisonic products are sold in retailers such as Sephora and Nordstrom.
Co-Founders
Clarisonic was founded by by David Giuliani, Robb Akridge, Steve Meginniss, Ward Harris and Ken Pilcher in 2000. Giuliani, Clarisonic’s CEO, is the former co-founder and CEO of Optiva, which developed the Sonicare line of toothbrushes. Giuliani sold Optiva to Philips Oral Healthcare in 2000.
Akridge was a scientist at Optiva Coproration before co-founding Clarisonic. He holds a bachelors degree from University of Texas, a Master of Science degree in biology from Texas State University–San Marcos and a doctorate in microbiology from Texas A&M University.
Ken Pilcher is the lead inventor of Clarisonic’s skin care systems. In the past he has developed avionics for the NASA Space Shuttle as well as medical electronics.
Charities
Clarisonic’s Pink campaign has raised over 1 million dollars to fight breast cancer. The company currently donates proceeds from its pink products to the American Cancer Society Look Good…Feel Better campaign. As of October 11th, 2010 Clarisonic has donated over $1 million to the Look Good...Feel Better campaign.
Awards and Recognition
Clarisonic was ranked Number 60 in the 2009 Inc. (magazine) 500. The Clarisonic Opal won the Allure (magazine) Best of Beauty Award for the Breakthrough category in 2010.
Oprah's Favorite Things
Each year, Oprah Winfrey picks favorite products on her program that "spark a holiday frenzy," according to http://www.oprah.com. In 2007 the Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System was named one of Oprah's Favorite Things.
