Claire Liddell

Elizabeth Claire Liddell (b. 24 May ?) is a Scottish pianist and composer. She was born in Glasgow and studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music in Glasgow and the Royal College of Music in London with Lloyd Webber.[1]

Works

Liddel is known for arrangements of Scottish folk songs and poetry to music.[2] Selected works include:

  • Three Piano Pieces
  • Song Cycle Five Orkney Scenes (text: George Mackay Brown)
  • Orphead: A Spell for Rain
  • The Kindling Fire (text: Robert Burns)
  • Melody and Country Style for Violin and Piano
  • Ca' the yowes for soprano and piano

Her works have been recorded and issued on CD, including:

  • Songs of Scotland (July 2009) Hyperion
