Civitatis International Formation 2002 Website www.paxcivitatis.org Civitatis International is a global governance think-tank and a transnational association of researchers from around the world working together to improve the human and planetary condition through research and consultancy. Also known as Researchers Without Borders, the think-tank has participated in conferences of former heads of state and government in particular those hosted by Mikhail Gorbachev. Civitatis International was founded in 2002 at a Council of Europe sponsored conference. The think tank's secretariat rotates around the world. Presently it is based in Vancouver.
Civitatis International provides constructive solutions to global problems relevant to policymakers and stakeholders in a practical and legalistic manner, through its independent research. Its researchers use systems thinking to address issues of planetary significance such as peace, climate and civilization in an interdependent world civilization of diverse and equal cultures.
Research Associates
The ‘Researchers Without Borders’ think-tank now includes Research Associates, including undergraduate and PhD students, a number of renowned professors, Rotary Scholars, officers at the International Criminal Court, UN staff on mission in Afghanistan, East Timor, Iran and Iraq, Council of Europe Information Offices, senior staff at the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation and the youngest magistrate in Indonesia, and the following individuals:
- Bongo Adi, a World Bank Scholar
- Graham Day, the Deputy High Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina
- Parag Khanna, the Manager of the Global Governance Initiative at the World Economic Forum
- Until recently, Tom Gehrels, who was the Scientific Advisor to Mikhail Gorbachev
- James F. Hanlon, a former instructor of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq
