cineSync is a tool for visual communication and was developed to address the issue of remote reviews and approvals, allowing directors, producers, supervisors and visual media professionals to perform live run-throughs of work being carried out in another country, another city, or even the building next door, without needing to leave their office. It’s a tool for assisting the management of collaborative projects by synchronising multiple copies of the same media in multiple locations. It enables users to draw and write on media files that are played back in perfect synchronisation with anyone invited to their cineSync session. Multiple people around the world can view the same material at the same time and they see exactly what everyone else in the session sees, frame for frame, image for image, drawing for drawing. It's as though everyone were looking at the same screen no matter where in the world they are.
cineSync allows users to annotate directly onto the frame – they can point or circle objects in the frame, draw new elements into the frame and write text notes – all synchronised in real-time with everyone else in their review. cineSync also enables file transfers from within the cineSync interface and can export saved session information to a third party project management system.
cineSync was shortlisted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the 2010 Scientific and Technical Achievement Awards. The Academy’s Scientific and Technical Awards honor the men, women and companies whose discoveries and innovations have contributed in significant, outstanding and lasting ways to motion pictures.[1]
cineSync is developed by Rising Sun Research, a company specialising in the development of tools for visual professionals.
