Ciáran Bairéad, Irish folklore expert, scribe and scholar, fl. 1950s - 1970s.
Bairéad was a native of County Galway and a graduate of Galway University. He worked with the Irish Folklore Commission and An Fáinne, the later organisation been established to promote the Irish language, its members bearing its symbol, a small lapel circle. Among his works was the transcriptions of Leabhard na nAmhrán, a dunaire of folksongs by Pádhraic Ó Comáin. It is especially valuable has the original appears to be misplaced.
He also conducted interviews with locals of the parish concerning accounts of the 1505 Battle of Knockdoe, on placenames, faction fights and the current use of Irish. Among those interviews were Micheál Ó Síoda and Séan Ó Loirgneáin.
