(2003)"Yang Yang" is a song by
Yoko Ono , originally released in1972 on the album "Approximately Infinite Universe ", and on the B-side to the "Death of Samantha " single.Themes explored
The song deals with both the issues of feminism, and the emotional distance and cruelty of men and the way in which they enforce control upon others, particularly but not necessarily, women through de-humanising them. This theme is given in the song in the form of the titular character, a powerful man who is frequently on the phone "talking to himself", gives rocks to his men and abuses his female subjects, citing his owning of them as a reason for them to obey him. The song ends with the women starting a revolution and ordering Yang Yang to renounce his old ways and join them.
In
2002 , as part of the ongoing ONO remix project, the track was re-released and reached #17 on the US dance charts, 30 years after original release.Track Listings
