Family
Christopher Lewis is one of two sons of Hollywood actress Loretta Young. His younger brother is Peter Lewis, one of the founding members of the seminal 1960s rock band, Moby Grape. Peter Lewis and Christopher Lewis are nephews of actresses Polly Ann Young and Sally Blane, sisters of their mother. They are also half-brothers of Judy Lewis (b. 1935), daughter of Loretta Young and Clark Gable (she is a former actress and currently is a practicing psychotherapist, having earned a Masters in clinical psychology after leaving acting). Musician David Lindley is their cousin.[1]
Scandal
In 1973, Christopher Lewis, then 29, was involved in a filmmaking scandal, while working for a company known as Lyric Productions. He was charged with child molestation and filming and distributing child pornography, along with 13 other men. Lewis and the other men were indicted with soliciting boys ranging from ages 6 to 17 to perform lewd acts in their movies. Despite pleading "no contest" to child molestation charges and potentially facing a significant term of imprisonment, Lewis was sentenced to probation and a $500 fine.[2]
Film career
Christopher Lewis is now a writer and producer of films primarily for television, through The Entertainment Group, a company co-owned with his wife, Linda.[3] Christopher Lewis has also been a producer of horror films,[4] including the very first direct-to-video release.[5]
In later years, Christopher Lewis' actress mother entrusted her son with the rights to The Loretta Young Show. Christopher Lewis and his wife thereafter became co-producers of contemporary television broadcasts of the show, which have also been released on DVD.
