Armeekorps Battles/wars Awards Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross Christian Usinger (21 August 1894 – 2 April 1949) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Christian Usinger was captured in 1945 in the Courland Pocket and taken prisoner of war. He was held in various POW camps in the Soviet Union where he died in early 1949.
