J. Christopher Burch

J. Christopher Burch is a venture capitalist and an entrepreneur. Burch has invested in a variety of businesses spanning a wide range of industries and is currently actively engaged in venture capital investments through his private company, J. Christopher Capital LLC.

Burch is the co-founder of the New York based women's fashion label Tory Burch (formerly "Tory by TRB"). Burch is currently the co-chairperson of the board of directors for Tory Burch LLC.

Burch is a past Board Member of both The Pierre New York Hotel and The Tilton School.

Investment history

Burch began his career as an entrepreneur and a venture capitalist while still a student at Ithaca College with the launch of Eagle’s Eye, a successful sportswear label in the 1980s. The company, which had an initial investment of $2,000, was sold in a deal that valued it at $60 million.[1]

Burch has provided initial capital for and has made direct venture investments, in several now successful brands, including: Aliph Jawbone wireless accessories, Voss (water), Color Kinetics, CodFarmers AS, and Eastern Alliance Insurance Company.[2]

Burch is the founder and CEO of JB Christopher, a supplier of finished building materials to commercial and residential developers worldwide. JB Christopher is working with the largest condominium developer in the United States, The Related Companies L.P., on 12 projects and with designer Robert A. M. Stern.[3]

Burch has also invested in real estate, including the Faena Hotel in Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro.[4]
