Choozhal

Choozhal, Krishnapuram, Piracode is located nearly 60 km from Kanyakumari and 40 km from Trivandrum. It is considered as one of the extreme border of Kerala.

It comes under Munchirai Municipality. It consist of a lot of Churches and Temples among them Choozhal-Piracode Sree Krishna Swamy Temple, Sree Bhadrakali Temple, Madathu Nada Sree Dharma Shastha Temple, St Little Flower Msc Church, St Joseph Msc Church, Ambilikonam MSC church, Choozhal RC Church, Faith in Action Church etc. Also it is bounded with a lot of Educational institutions. Among them, Sree Krishna English Medium School, St Little Flower Matriculation School both stand for quality education. An auditorium with well equipped technologies named Jibin Auditorium is near to choozhal.

People in Choozhal are mainly farmers, Govt Employees (Maj Somasekharan Nair is the first Army Officer from the village).

Krishnapuram

A small village near to choozhal, the main attraction is the Choozhal-Piracode Sree Krishna Swamy Temple, the temple celebrate its annual festival during the month of February - March, known as Kumbha Rohini Mahotsavam. In the earlys the name of the village is known as Shankurutty. After a period name of the village got its name as Krishnapuram originated from the name of the Lord Sree Krishna. Krishnapuram situated just 4 km from Parassala Kerala and 6 km from Kaliyakkavilai Tamilnadu. Well connected with bus, rail and air. Nearest Railway Station, Thiruvanthapuram situated 40 km (Approximate) and Nagercoil with a distance of 50 km (Approximate). IT Coordinates: 8°19'9"N 77°7'43"E in wikimapia.india. There is also a Bhadrakali Temple situated in Piracode, opposite to Krishanpuram famous for Iratta Ponkala. Major Somasekharan Nair (Indian Army Officer) the first Army Officer from the village is well known among villagers.

Club (YOUTHS SOCIAL SERVICES)

A Youths Social Services society (YSS) located at Krishnapuram performing duties of social services in the area, a helpful society for the villagers. A library with huge collection of books, Information room, Public Television Room are the facilities provided. The Club Celebrate its annual function during the month of August to September, by conducting various programmes which include Sports, Arts, Quiz, etc. The club also promote students of 10th and 12th by presenting a trophy to those students who topped with marks.
